Historic Location

In 1983, Robinson, Kriger & McCallum moved its offices to the beautifully renovated buildings at 12 and 22 Portland Pier, on Portland's 12 Portland Pierscenic waterfront. In the 1920s, James Kriger's grandfather purchased the post-and-beam building at 22 Portland Pier from which he operated a marine hardware business, Seiger & Co. In the 1960s, needing additional warehouse space, Seiger & Co. bought the adjacent brick building at 12 Portland Pier.

12 Portland Pier was built in 1859 by the shipping merchants Hosea I. Robinson (1817-1883) and William Safford (1812-1885) who used it for the West Indies maritime trade. It is one of the few such buildings remaining in Portland and is an example of transitional Attorney and Fisherman Douglas J. AlofsGreek Revival-Italianate style, surviving without significant exterior change.

Today the two buildings retain many original interior features, yet are connected by a skywalk and have been modernized throughout. Rooftop windows cast sunlight upon a comprehensive legal library that forms the vertex of a computerized office network. At high tide in our historic waterfront location, lobster boats are moored adjacent to the client parking area.
